...And so it begins.

Doing something totally new.

It's not often in life we get the chance to do something that is completely new (or nearly so). Naturally, the older we become, the less frequent such opportunities become simply because our range of experience expands day on day.

Even if we go to a new job, or a new activity it's likely a development of something we've done in the past: a promotion for example, or a Yoga class instead of Pilates)

For me, starting up the Fatshan Puma Wing Chun school in Harlow has been as close to a completely new experience as any I can recall since I was 19. That (perhaps unsurprisingly) was my first lesson in the art of Wing Chun, and the first step on my own personal journey of a thousand miles.

Even though it's only early days (4 classes so far, plus some self defence work) the experience has been completely enjoyable! The students are keen, committed and make every lesson a pleasure. What's more, because we have a very high instructor to student ratio, they are picking up the skills at an excellent rate. This rewards their keenness and effort, and in turn makes my role so much more rewarding.

Long may it continue!

If you want to try something completely new, why not come along and join us? We practice traditional Wing Chun, aiming for the highest levels of skill. It's an inclusive environment where everyone is expected to enjoy themselves, and your first session will be completely free, so really you have nothing at all to lose.
